When you’ve worked together for more than two decades, a project becomes more than just business — it becomes a shared story of trust, craftsmanship, and community. That’s exactly what happened when Floors USA partnered once again with Bethel Deliverance International Church to refresh their main sanctuary — a gathering space that welcomes thousands of worshippers every week.

A Partnership Years in the Making

Floors USA’s Scott Erlbaum and Bethel’s Chet Taylor have known each other for over 25 years. Their relationship began through mutual projects in the Philadelphia area and has grown into one built on integrity, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to quality.

“It’s been a great relationship built on mutual trust and admiration,” Scott said. “We take care of each other — and that’s how things have to be.”

Chet, who serves as Bethel’s Computer Specialist and Special Projects Lead, has overseen major renovations and facilities projects for the church since 2008. When it came time to replace the sanctuary’s well-loved carpet, Bishop Eric Lambert entrusted Chet to find a reliable partner.

“We work with a lot of contractors and vendors here,” Chet shared. “But when Bishop Lambert says, ‘Call your friend at Floors USA,’ I know I can relax. I don’t have to worry when Floors USA is on the job — I know it’ll be done right.”

The Challenge: Time for Renewal

The sanctuary’s carpet had served faithfully for over 15 years. Despite regular maintenance, seams began to fray under the heavy weekly traffic of thousands of congregants, weddings, and community events. It was time for something new — a flooring solution that could match the church’s beauty and endure its busy schedule.

Scott recalls the first conversation vividly:

“You lose track of time sometimes. I thought it hadn’t been that long since we installed the carpet, but when I checked, it had been well over a decade. The carpet did its job, and it was time to refresh the space.”

Choosing the Right Solution: From Broadloom to Carpet Tile

Traditionally, churches have used broadloom carpet for its warmth and seamless look. But as design and technology have evolved, carpet tile has become a smart alternative — offering not just beauty, but practicality.

Initially, Chet and Bishop Lambert were unsure whether carpet tiles would fit the sanctuary’s aesthetic. But when Scott’s team created a digital rendering showing how the design would look in the space, the decision became clear.

“It looked so real,” Chet recalled. “We showed the image to Bishop Lambert, and it was as if the new carpet was already installed. He looked at the samples, pointed to one, and said, ‘That one.’ That was it — decision made.”

Quality Over Cost

While the project wasn’t the cheapest quote on the table, Chet knew the value of working with a partner he could trust.

“Sometimes you get what you pay for — and sometimes you get less,” he said. “With Floors USA, we get quality and reliability. I can go home at night knowing the job’s being done right.”

Scott echoed that sentiment:

“We’d never take that trust for granted. We know that how we respond when things don’t go smoothly is what defines us.”

A Beautiful, Practical Result

The final installation was completed with precision — a durable, elegant carpet tile design that elevated the sanctuary’s appearance while making long-term maintenance easier.

“We get so many compliments,” Chet said. “Other pastors have come in and asked where we got it. The carpet tiles give us flexibility — if a tile gets stained, we can replace it without shutting down the sanctuary.”

Floors USA also provided Bethel with a stock of extra tiles for future use, ensuring the church could maintain a fresh, uniform look for years to come.

“It’s made maintenance so much easier,” Chet explained. “We rotate professional cleaning throughout the year, and if there’s damage, we just replace the affected tiles. It saves time, money, and stress.”

Lessons in Partnership

For Chet, the experience reaffirmed the value of working with experts who listen, advise, and deliver.

“My advice to anyone starting a flooring project is simple,” he said. “Listen to Floors USA. Don’t try to fly the plane yourself — let the professionals guide you. They know what works, and they’ll always steer you toward the best solution.”

The Takeaway

At its core, the Bethel Deliverance project wasn’t just about replacing carpet. It was about renewing a space where faith, community, and trust come together — and doing it with partners who care as much about the outcome as the people who will walk those floors every day.

“We’re good when everything goes well,” Scott reflected. “But we’re great when there’s a challenge — because that’s when trust truly shows.”
